She Matters is a digital health platform designed to support Black mothers who experience postpartum comorbidities.
Members of our community benefit from:
The She Matters application offers community and validation for those Black mothers experiencing mental health and physical challenges that can come with motherhood. One of the overwhelming themes with Black women experiencing postpartum anxiety and depression was that they felt alone. This was persistent across all relationship and socioeconomic statuses as well as those with other family members within their households. Our application provides a safe space to bring mothers together to share their experiences with one another without judgement or racial prejudice.
Culturally Relevant Resources
She Matters provides monthly virtual events aimed at educating our Black mom community. Each event is facilitated by a corresponding subject matter expert. Our event series are curated to tackle any subject that is relevant to the community from managing postpartum depression as a Black woman, to Faith & Mental Health, Health Equity & Advocacy, Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation, Nursing & Antidepressants, and Navigating Single Motherhood to name a few.
Culturally Competent Mental Health Professionals
The She Matters application includes a directory of culturally competent mental health care professionals who have been vetted and/or completed our culturally competent training. Any Black mom who is interested in therapy services as a form of care can make an appointment.
