What is Gentle Parenting?

Gentle parenting, also known as attachment parenting, is a parenting philosophy that emphasizes a close, nurturing relationship between parent and child. Gentle parenting aims to create a supportive and nurturing environment in which children can grow and develop to their full potential.

Gentle parenting approaches are based on the belief that children are naturally competent and capable of making their own decisions and learning from their mistakes. This approach values the child's unique personality and needs and focuses on building trust and communication within the parent-child relationship.

Gentle parenting practices may include:

  • Responding promptly and consistently to a child's needs

  • Using positive discipline techniques such as setting limits and providing guidance, rather than punishment

  • Encouraging a child to express their feelings and emotions

  • Providing a supportive and nurturing environment in which children feel safe to explore and learn

  • Encouraging independence and self-sufficiency in children

Gentle parenting is a parenting style that can be applied to children of all ages and is based on the belief that children are best able to thrive and develop when they are treated with kindness, respect, and understanding.
